Are you tired of modern malls and themed cafes? Explore more things to do in Dongdaemun. Head over to the Jungbu Dry Fish Market for an authentic, local experience. Opened in 1959, this is the oldest dried seafood market in South Korea. You can find a wide assortment of dried goods such as seaweed, squid, anchovies, pollack, ginseng, and so many more!
The well-maintained market truly comes alive in the day, especially in the mornings, where most stalls are open. Your five senses are in for a treat of sights, sounds, and scents of dried seafood and dried kimchi permeating the atmosphere.
Stall vendors are friendly but competitive, jostling to offer high-quality produces at the best price. Everything available is up to 30% cheaper than regular markets. Stall vendors are quick to help pack all the food tight and sealed, making it hygienic and convenient to bring a good haul home.
Don’t miss sampling on local food while you’re there. However, if you are just looking to taste-test, snacks and seafood choices available at the market should suffice!
Tips: Make sure to try Ojang-dong Heungnamjip, a restaurant that has been serving naengmyeon, a cold dish featuring long thin buckwheat noodles for more than six decades.

One of Seoul's primary shopping districts, Myeongdong shopping street, is a hive of activity with tourists and locals flitting from store to store, bustling and buying. Bright neon signs beckon and call at all hours of the day in every season. It is a true shopping mecca.
Packed with shops featuring popular Korean brands, you can find every cosmetic product under the sun along this shopping street. The Korean beauty industry has now garnered worldwide fame, a trend reflected in store after store selling Korean skincare and cosmetic products. Other than beauty products, brand-name shops, and fashion apparel stores also line this street, making it impossible to come and leave empty-handed.
Food stalls also have their place in this shopping street. Local snacks such as spicy fried chicken, rice cakes, meatball skewers, omelette burgers, stir-fried noodles, and banana pancakes are served piping hot. Cool drinks and cold desserts are also widely available – perfect for a quick refreshment if you're there shopping on a warm summer's day.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)
Dongdaemun Design Plaza, or DDP, is a major urban landmark in Seoul. Designed by the world-renown Zaha Hadid, DDP has a distinctively neo-futuristic architectural style, characterized by sweeping, curving forms of elongated structures.
Dubbed the “largest three-dimensional atypical structure in the world,” this aluminum and concrete icon comprises galleries, event spaces, design shops, and manicured lawns that rise to the roof. The attached Dongdaemun History & Culture Park includes museums highlighting past uses of the Dongdaemun area, including a military camp in the 16th century.

Cheonggyecheon Stream
Cheonggyecheon Stream flows through Jongno-gu and Jung-gu districts, flowing an 11 km-long stream. Although the stream had been there since Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), the stream is now part of an urban renewal project. The stream starts from Cheonggye Plaza, a popular cultural arts venue, and passes under a total of 22 bridges before flowing into the Hangang River, with many attractions along the way. Today, the place is an all-time favorite leisure place for anyone to rest or simply hang out with friends in the heart of the capital.
Tips: Head over to Candle Fountain, a favorite of many featuring the magnificent synchronicity of three different lighting fixtures and a four-meter-high, two-tiered waterfall.
